Educators' Network
Education is the foundation of society’s investment in the future. As educators, teachers of all levels invest their time in their students towards a long-term goal that they may never fully witness: successful, self-motivated, and productive members of the community. Gratification is never immediate, and the curriculum, regardless of topic, must be disciplined and resolute. With hundreds of educators as clients, we approach planning for their financial future in much the same way.
Thomas A. Cappucci, CFP® founded the SFP Educators’ Network in 1994 as a way to connect with public educators and administrators throughout Massachusetts. As a retired Teacher and former Adjunct Faculty Member at Bentley College, Tom understands the financial issues that impact educators from perhaps the best perspective: first-hand knowledge. His knowledge and experience have proven and continue to be an invaluable resource to all of our associates and clients. The foundation of every educator’s financial plan is the Municipal Pension System (i.e., MTRS). Our understanding of the pension options, and how they coordinate with the rest of your situation, will help you to make financial decisions from your first day of school to the months leading up to retirement.
Recent changes in the 403(b) regulations have dramatically altered the relationship of School Departments and their employees’ retirement planning, and we have collaborated with a number of School Systems across Massachusetts to implement 403(b) arrangements in compliance with the new regulations. Keeping the interests of both Schools and Educators in mind, we have worked closely with School Officials and Union Representatives together to find innovative solutions that satisfy both parties’ needs.
If you are a School Business Officer, we can help you make sense of the recent 403(b) regulations and assess your current plan’s compliance with all applicable provisions. We will conduct on-site enrollment meetings for all of your participants as well as ongoing educational workshops on a broad range of financial topics. In tandem with our extensive experience in Retirement Plan Services, our familiarity with the employer-sponsored retirement plans available to public and private schools puts us in an excellent position to design retirement plans that meet the stringent financial needs of your school, while providing the best options available in the marketplace for your educators.
