“I wouldn’t say this is my favorite book of all time, but it is one that changed the direction of my life. When the Great Recession of 2008 occurred, I was only 13 years old. I remember the chaos on the news, which for some reason piqued my interest and curiosity in finance and investing. I wasn’t certain this would be my ultimate path until I read the book called The Big Short, by Michael Lewis. I remember driving down to my Aunt’s house in South Carolina and reading the book cover to cover, unable to put it down. I was fascinated by the exotic terms like CDOs and credit default swaps, the concept of which almost destroyed the global economy. From that point on, I knew I would pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in finance and ultimately a Master’s Degree in quantitative finance. This one book alone has placed me on my current path to become a Chartered Financial Analyst!”
